Azerbaijan conducts drill close to Karabakh

Azerbaijan is carrying out major military exercises close to the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh frontline with Armenia, the country’s defense ministry said yesterday.

“The armed forces of Azerbaijan have started the next stage of large-scale military exercises in the frontline zone,” the defense ministry said in a brief statement.

Baku ready to hold talks on Karabakh with Yerevan

Azerbaijan is willing to resume talks in a bid to find a political solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict with Armenia, says Azerbaijani deputy foreign minister.

Azerbaijan is willing to resume talks under the Chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group in a bid to find a political solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict with Armenia. However, Baku has insisted on seeing “practical steps” toward a peace plan which would map out Armenia’s withdrawal from occupied regions in order to proceed with negotiation talks.

The Minsk Group’s co-chairing countries are seeking grounds for a new round of talks in mid-May, Azerbaijani deputy foreign minister Araz Azimov, told Hürriyet Daily News on April 29, ahead of his meeting with Fatih Ceylan, deputy undersecretary of the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
