19 years pass since occupation of Azerbaijan’s Gubadli region by Armenians

19 years have passed since the occupation of Azerbaijan’s Gubadli region by Armenian armed forces.

Gubadli, the region with 826 square km territory, was occupied by the Armenians on August 31, 1993.

54 people were killed in the battles for Gubadli. 232 residents of Gubadli Region were killed and 146 became invalid during Karabakh war. Armenians burned and looted 94 villages and settlements, 205 cultural and social facilities and 12 historical monuments in Gubadli. There were 21 secondary and 15 incomplete secondary schools, as well as 15 primary and 7 kindergartens in the region with 33 800 population. 1280 teachers were working in the schools. There were 111 cultural-educational centers, including 60 libraries, 10 cultural houses, 28 clubs and 6 auto-clubs.

Youths protest against Christian youth association for visiting Karabakh

Members of the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) have visited the Upper Nagorno-Karabakh, thus violating international legal norms.

Recently, the Democratic Reformist Youths Public Union has addressed a protest to members of YWCA, who visited the occupied Azerbaijani lands, Gun.Az reported.

In the protest, the youths voiced regret for the visit of the association members to the occupied Azerbaijani lands – the Upper Nagorno-Karabakh.

Armenians destroy unique natural places in Azerbaijan’s Gubadli

Azerbaijan’s Gubadli region with an area of 80,250 hectares was occupied by Armenia on 31 August 1993.

As a result of occupation, wide forestry areas with unique trees, large underground resources and mineral water sources were exploited, and natural places with unique flora and fauna were destroyed. The press service of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources told APA that Gubadli region, which has rich natural resources and wonderful beauty of nature and locates between Zangezur mountains and Nagorno Karabakh range, was created as an administrative unit in 1933.

There was a 13,160-ha national forestry fund in the region with different types of trees. Before occupation, it had the natural monuments like 150-1600-year-old trees.

Baku regrets lack of world’s reaction to military exercise in occupied lands

Military exercises in the occupied lands of Azerbaijan reflect the aggressiveness of Yerevan and its reluctance to settle the Karabakh conflict.

The statement came from spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Elman Abdullayev.

“The fact that the exercises in the world recognized part of Azerbaijani territory are held directly by Armenia speaks for itself”, he said noting that the world community is still indifferent to such actions of the Armenian party.

Karabakh conflict can be settled only through political-democratic means

The parties to the Karabakh conflict have marked the tendencies of understanding, Federation Council of Russia Chairwoman Valentina Matviyenko said in an interview with Azerbaijani Trend agency.

“We believe that it can be solved only through political and democratic means. There is no other solution … We believe that it is necessary to continue negotiations and dialogue, but the main thing in this negotiation process, in this dialogue is to restore confidence,” Trend quotes Matviyenko.
